Countdown for the new coding system is just beginning...

The new International Classification of Diseases, ICD-10 Tenth Revision is going to be a huge undertaking and will affect more than just physician practices. The Department of Health and Human Services will be updating the healthcare diagnosis and procedure codes, and that means the physicians will be expected to fully implement this new system by  2013. The new ICD-10 represents the number of codes we are all currently using will increase10 fold.  This is a change of magificent proportions for physician practices, hospitals, and other entities as well.
